Friends ,

After a post about a heavyweight book like "The Alchemist" , this time I decided it would be a very very light one.

The book I chose is "The Inscrutable Americans" , this one also suggested by my friend Harish , who had suggested me The Alchemist .

This book was touted to be a lighthearted, nonsensical account of a travails of an Indian in America.

The book starts from the time our hero , Gopal sets foot in the U.S and ends when he leaves it.

Gopal , a son of a wealthy businessman is sent to study Chemical Engineering to the U.S. The details of what he faces there and what he makes out of the incidents and Americans is told in a funny way .

Gopal has seen and heard about the America only through "Deep Throat" , "Saturday Night Fever" and "Penthouse Letters" . He realises that all about America is not said in the Penthouse letters .

The main fact that goes through the whole of this book is the omnipresence of "GIRLS" in the American life. They seem to be EVERYWHERE .

And How Gopal finds his first crush , his first kiss , his first love ,his first breakup has been told in a good comical sense making this a light read.

And do you think our Hero returned home
as pure as he went .

If you had said YES , you are wrong.
Gopal DID NOT return back as he went :-)

Cheers
Megarajan
